It stands on the edge of the Thar desert on the 125-meter rocky hill, like a menacing guard, protecting people from deadly respiratory incandescent sands.
On the base of Mehrangarh Fort, which in Hindi means “to win a place,” began the history of the city that grew up around the fort. Principality often fought with each other, so the value of the forts in India was no less than the castles in Europe. However, the walls of the Mehrangarh fort were “too tough” neighboring rajas, which did not manage to capture the fort. flickr/Wesley & Brandon Rosenblum
Inside the fort are located Pleasure Palace, Pearl Palace and the Palace of Flowers. They are separated by a small courtyard. Halls of palaces are striking in their rich decoration and luxurious decoration. It is also the Hindu temple Kuldevi goddess. In olden days elephants Maharaja used to overcome the steep hill on the way to the gates of the fortress. Nowadays, anyone can use the achievements of modern civilization, and instead of the elephants lift.
