Mehrangarh Fort is located at Jodhpur in Rajasthan, is a massive fort, located on a hill above the city. Its walls reach 36 meters high and 21 meters wide. In these impressive massive walls have gardens, courthouse, several palaces known for their beautifully carved statues and spacious courtyards, elaborate balconies, arched galleries and apartments. Fort is protected by perpendicular rock, this impressive landmark impregnable. Mehrangarh Fort is an amazing castle in the heart of Jodhpur, the second largest city of the Indian state of Rajasthan. It stands on the edge of the Thar desert on the 125-meter rocky hill, like a menacing guard, protecting people from deadly respiratory incandescent sands.
On the base of Mehrangarh Fort, which in Hindi means “to win a place,” began the history of the city that grew up around the fort. Principality often fought with each other, so the value of the forts in India was no less than the castles in Europe. However, the walls of the Mehrangarh fort were “too tough” neighboring rajas, which did not manage to capture the fort. flickr/Wesley & Brandon Rosenblum
Inside the fort are located Pleasure Palace, Pearl Palace and the Palace of Flowers. They are separated by a small courtyard. Halls of palaces are striking in their rich decoration and luxurious decoration. It is also the Hindu temple Kuldevi goddess. However, the greatest interest among tourists is the museum Mehrangarh fort. One of the most impressive palaces of Rajasthan state museums. Here you can see the golden prince’s throne, magnificent miniatures, ivories, jewelry, luxury apparel, and numerous types of weapons.
In olden days elephants Maharaja used to overcome the steep hill on the way to the gates of the fortress. Nowadays, anyone can use the achievements of modern civilization, and instead of the elephants lift. Near the fortress is Jaswant Thada – a memorial in white marble, built in memory of the ruler of Jodhpur Jaswant Singh II. Fort is also a favorite location for Hollywood films. In particular it can be seen in a movie about Batman.
